A Race to the Ever Receding Finish Line!
Oct. 16th, 2005 10:45 amAnd progress continues. As much as I would love to be an every day writer, the only time I succeed in that is when my only writing project is...well...writing. As long as I am writing, editing, critiquing, researching markets, sending queries/stories, etc. I should just resign myself to this sporadic progress. This week shows a nice jump due to a 48-hour word count marathon. It would have been higher, but I was also working on outlines for two other novels to have on hand when I finish this novel.
As far as Bring Out Your Dead goes, things for poor Wardah have only gotten worse. She doesn't know why, but she has a pretty good idea. She's wrong, but I'm not sure whether that will ever become clear in the story, one of the limits of the single POV. That said, so far, the single POV is holding up for me. Things are happening to her enough to keep people going, I hope, though hope is the one thing I have stolen from her. As of now, everything she had to hope for is gone and she will spiral into despair and then a feral state. Now that'll be an interesting challenge. I've written a blind character, I've written characters who cannot speak the local language, but feral? We'll have to see how that goes :).
For those of you watching the word count, the total has gone up and then down again, and I added a few scenes, though not many.
And stats:
76 scenes
45 complete - 59% of the novel
31 remain
103056 Estimated length - with an average of 1356 words per scene.
61020 Current Total

Re: if anyone can you can
Date: 2005-10-18 07:11 pm (UTC)That sounds like a cool book. If you can remember the title, tell me please.
I just wish circumstances rather than people made her this way. Poor Wardah was just subject to a malicious prank this morning that meant she spent the night on the cold floor :(. I promise I'll be nice to some character, somewhere. I'm a nice person...really I am :).
