Hmm, I'm starting to understand why I was so reluctant to edit Kyrnie. It's a mess. This is a novel I started in 2004 and finished 2005, finishing one already started novel, and starting and finishing a novel (for NaNo) in between. That's not a plan I plan to try again, but it was an experiment in multitasking...that failed.

Anyway, I've also grown up a bit as far as skill is concerned and can see things that I couldn't before.

And if that wasn't enough, I made some choices originally that I think now are clunky and annoying so they have to be culled, meaning numerous scenes rewritten so the essence of the scene remains but the specifics of it are completely changed.

Sigh. If I didn't love the story so much, I'd abandon it. Seriously, though, I believe this is a very strong story and if I can just get it edited, prepped, and out there, it might come to be on a shelf someday :).

Where I am now is as follows:

I've edited up to chapter 3, and now have 4 complete chapters. This involved completely rewriting chapter 1, a heavy edit on chapter 2 including splitting it into two chapters, and both a new scene and a rewritten scene for chapter 3 which is now chapter 4. Ain't life grand :).

And stats:
93 scenes
11 complete - 12% of the novel
82 Scenes remain
115587 Remaining word count
15697 Current Total

P.S. Yes, apparently I plan to complain bitterly and whine my way through the whole edit. However, at least it is getting done. Seeing as the edit was planned for last December, this is a grand improvement :).
