Progress Progesses

marfiskProgress progresses...finally. Today I spent 4 hours in a Starbucks with my laptop. I'm in the middle of a crazy move and actually homeless though I have a home to go to. I'm just not allowed to go there (kids' school obligations) for another 4 days (counting down ;)). So anyway, I didn't know if I'd be able to accomplish anything in those conditions. I've done NaNo writing at a coffee shop before, but this is a very complex book and I'm on my third or fourth attempt to set it up properly. This in no way resembles "just get the words on the page and worry about them later."
That said, I dove back into the world through editing the some 1700 words I'd managed the last time I'd started, tweaked them a bit and then just kept going. Whether this version works any better than the others, I can't say for sure. I can say that it sets up some of the things that come into play most heavily later in the book and which were previously left out. I'm pretty happy with the progress. The chapter now stands at around 3800 with one more scene to go. The original first chapter was 4600 though, so I'm not really worried. I may have to rework things a bit as far as where the chapter breaks come in, but that's the way of this rewrite :).
