Okay, I have a plan. It's not a great one, but it is a plan. If I can manage just a smidge over 15k a week in revisions, 2k per day and change, I'll manage to shut down this edit pass on Kyrnie by the beginning of September.

Things in my way include 13-14 days where I may or may not find any work time. School starts and there's prep work to do. I still have to finish moving into my new house. I have writing, short story edits, crits and other responsibilities.

Am I insane? Of course. More than any other writer out there? I don't think so :).

Here's why I think there's a chance: I'm getting close to the point where, though I had to reorder the scenes, the actual writing is sound. I went through a leap in writing skill after a plateau in Nov-Dec 2004. Half of Kyrnie was written before that point, half after. I'm nearing that point. Cross your fingers for me that I'm right. I will still have to rewrite and add some scenes, but I'm hoping that at the same time a majority of the existing scenes will transfer cleanly. I'm a quick typist. If I don't have to rewrite, if I can just retype, I could do 15k or more in a day :).

The bad part is that with two different ways of estimating, I still come up with a new estimated total of over 120k. Big sigh, but if that's what it needs...

And stats:
94 scenes
34 complete - 36% of the novel
60 Scenes remain
78824 Remaining word count
124248 Estimated length - with an average of 1336 words per scene.

Yippee! Hurray! I'm saved!

And who would have thought I could find such joy in the end of a novel stretching further away from me. Today I wrote the re-introduction of Kareleen and a scene that was supposed to be one required two. It has class conflict, the return of Andon's despair over losing his family, and his recognition that he'll never have a chance at renewal, at starting again. Some of that beauteous help humanity feeling is fading in favor of a selfish "why me?" and I love it.

Detail that this also gives me extra word count and now fixes the novel firmly within publishable length. No, that couldn't have anything to do with my happiness, eh?

And stats:
New Words: 1850 words
67 scenes
45 complete - 67% of the novel
22 Scenes remain
30155 Remaining word count
91835 Estimated length - with an average of 1371 words per scene.
